So, I converted 1/2 to 4/8 (since 1/2 is equivalent to 4/8). Then, I subtracted 3/8 from 4/8. 4/8 – 3/8 = 1/8. So, the difference between 3/8 and 1/2 is 1/8 of an inch!
Step 4: Applying the Knowledge
With this new – found knowledge, I went back to my project. I realized that for the part of the project where I needed more strength, the 1/2 – inch boards were the way to go. And for the parts where I needed something a bit thinner, the 3/8 – inch boards worked great.
Conclusion
Figuring out the difference between 3/8 and 1/2 was a bit of a hassle at first, but it was totally worth it. It just goes to show that a little bit of math and hands – on testing can make a big difference in a DIY project.
