Alright so today I decided to figure out exactly how many weeks are left in 2024. I mean, it’s one of those things you kinda wonder about but never really sit down to calculate. I wanted to know the number and then actually make a plan with it. No more just letting the year slip away.

Starting with the Basics
First thing I did was grab my laptop and open a calendar. I opened up the basic calendar app that comes with the system. I needed a clear view of the months from today until the end of December. I started scrolling from October to November and then to December. I just wanted to see the whole picture first.
Counting the Weeks Manually
Then I got a bit old-school. I opened a simple text editor to jot things down. I knew today’s date, so I started counting the weeks from this current week. I looked at the first full week of October and started counting week by week. I marked each week with a “W” and a number next to it. I went all the way through October, then November, and finally December. I made sure to check where the weeks actually ended, especially since the last week of December might not be a full week. It felt a bit tedious, but I wanted to be sure.
Double-Checking with a Quick Search
After I had my manual count, I thought, “I should probably double-check this.” I didn’t want to be off by a week. So I did a quick online search for a “week counter” tool. I found a simple one, entered today’s date and the end of the year, and let it calculate. It spat out a number almost instantly. I compared it to my manual count. Good news – they matched up! It’s always a relief when your manual work checks out.
The Final Number and Facing Reality
So here’s the deal. As of today, there are 12 weeks left in 2024. Seeing that number written down is kinda wild. It feels like both a lot and no time at all. Twelve weeks. That’s it. That’s what we have left to finish whatever we wanted to get done this year.
Making a Plan with the Time Left
Now for the important part – making a plan. I didn’t want to just know the number and forget about it. I opened a new note and wrote “12-WEEK PLAN FOR 2024” at the top. I broke it down simply:

- Health Stuff: I want to be more consistent with my workouts. So I penciled in 3-4 times a week for the next 12 weeks.
- Work Project: There’s this one big project I’ve been putting off. I decided to dedicate the first hour of my workday to it, no excuses.
- Personal Goal: I’ve been meaning to read more. I set a goal to finish two books by the end of the year. That’s totally doable.
I didn’t make it super complicated. Just a few key things I can focus on each week. The point was to be intentional with the time we have left.
Wrapping It Up
And that was my little practice for today. From wondering about the weeks, to counting them, to making a simple plan. It’s easy to let the end of the year just happen to you, but taking a few minutes to actually see the time left and decide how to use it feels pretty powerful. On to making the most of these 12 weeks!
