Okay so today I decided to tackle that Liverpool vs Southampton match timeline project. Been meaning to do this since last weekend’s match but life got busy, you know how it goes.

Getting Started
First thing I did was brew some strong coffee – can’t focus without it. Grabbed my laptop and opened three tabs: my note-taking app, the official match replay, and a blank document. Wanted to catch every important moment properly. Almost messed up right away though – spilled coffee on my keyboard! Had to wipe it down quick before things got sticky.
Tracking Key Moments
Started playing the match replay and kept pausing like crazy. Every time something happened – boom, pause button. My notes looked like this:
- Minute 5: Saints had that scary header, Allison saved it
- Minute 12: Darwin’s shot went WILD off target
- Minute 20: Szoboszlai’s pass to Gravenberch… chef’s kiss!
Got so into it I was shouting “WRITE THAT DOWN!” at myself when Elliott scored. My dog gave me weird looks.
Structuring the Timeline
This part took ages. My first draft was all over the place. Fixed it by splitting events into:
- First Half Drama (mostly Saints surprising everyone)
- Second Half Comeback (classic Liverpool style)
- Final Whistle Analysis
Deleted like three versions before it felt right. The Jota assist to Szoboszlai? Almost put it in wrong section twice. Match timelines are trickier than they look!

Finishing Touches
Added some personal commentary like “Klopp’s reaction when we conceded – priceless!” almost forgot the final score though! Can you believe that? Had to double-check who even won. Proofread it while eating leftover pizza. Still found two typos after posting. Always happens.
Honestly? The whole thing took four hours. Longer than the actual match! But reliving that Szoboszlai goal? Worth every minute. Next time maybe I’ll just enjoy the game first before diving into these projects!
