I’m always digging up football stats for fun, so when a buddy asked about Ipswich vs Spurs past matches, I figured I’d hunt it down properly. Started simple – opened Google like any normal person would. Typed “Ipswich Tottenham results past games” or something like that.

The Google Mess
Total chaos popped up. Saw news articles about single matches, random forum rants, betting site junk – nothing showing all the games in order. Clicked four different links wasting ten minutes. Either showed last season only or just cup finals. Useless.
Trying Club Sites
Thought club sites would save me. Went to Tottenham’s official site first. Buried under 50 menus trying to find “history” or “archives”. Found past seasons but no way to filter just Ipswich games. Same crap on Ipswich’s site – nice gallery of old jerseys but no head-to-head records. Closed both tabs frustrated.
Ah-Ha Moment
Remembered some footy sites specialize in this stuff. Didn’t recall exact names so just searched “football team comparison history”. Picked the top result that looked plain (you know, no flashy ads). Typed “Ipswich Town” in one box and “Tottenham” in the other. Hit search holding my breath.
There it was – all matches since like 1960 something:
- Each row showed date, competition, exact score
- Sorted newest to oldest automatically
- Even had little icons for home/away games
Double-Checking
Not trusting just one site, I repeated this on two other similar pages. Compared Spurs’ 3-1 win from 2003 across all three – same details everywhere. Felt solid. Wrote down totals: they’ve played 58 times, Spurs won 30, Ipswich took 14. Drew last FA Cup meeting apparently.

Finished by taking screenshots for my buddy. Took maybe 25 minutes total after the early fails. Moral? Avoid club sites and general searches – go straight to those boring stat databases. They always deliver the goods without the nonsense.
