Okay, so I saw this thing on the internet, you know, the “candle butter bread” and I thought, “What the heck, let’s give it a try!” It looked kinda weird, but also strangely appealing.

Getting Started

First, I gathered my stuff. Obviously, I needed:

  • A candle (I used a plain white one, nothing fancy)
  • Some butter (the real stuff, not margarine)
  • Bread (I had a leftover baguette)
  • A knife
  • A plate
  • Matches or a lighter.

The Process

I cut a thick slice of butter, like really thick, maybe an inch or so. Then, I sliced the baguette in half lengthwise, the long way. I placed the butter on one side of the bread.

Next, the candle part. I carefully lit the candle and held it upright. It will drip the wax down, that is what we need, just be patient.

Then I put the bread on a plate, butter-side up. This is where it gets a little messy, so don’t do this over your nice tablecloth!

Did It Work?

Honestly? It was…interesting. The bread got all warm and the butter melted, mixing with candle wax. It didn’t taste bad, per se, but it definitely had a waxy aftertaste. The texture was kinda soft and gooey.

I took a few more bites, just to be sure. I don’t dislike it. I guess, maybe I will try some different candles with different smell.

Would I make it again? Probably not. But it was a fun experiment! It definitely made for a good story, and I got some weird looks from my family, which is always a bonus.
