Okay, so I had this bright yellow dress hanging in my closet, the kind that just screams “summer,” but I was always stumped on what shoes to wear with it. I mean, it’s YELLOW. It’s a statement. So, I did a little experimenting and I want to share what worked (and what definitely didn’t!).
My Shoe Experiment: Yellow Dress Edition
First, I pulled out every pair of shoes I owned that seemed like even a remote possibility. We’re talking heels, flats, sandals… the whole shebang. I wanted to see everything next to the dress.

- Nude heels: This was my first try. And honestly, it’s a winner! The nude heels elongated my legs and let the dress be the star of the show. It’s a classic, safe choice, and it looked super classy.
- White sneakers:I wore simple and clean sneaker and it make the dress look more casual.
I felt really cute.
- Silver sandals: Okay, this was surprisingly good! I have these strappy silver sandals, and they added a touch of sparkle without competing with the yellow. It felt very “dressed up” but still summery.
- Gold flats: Similar to the silver, the gold added some warmth. It complemented the yellow nicely. I think this would be perfect for a daytime event.
- Brown leather sandals: I have a pair of brown, almost cognac-colored sandals, and I thought, “Why not?” It actually worked! It gave the outfit a more boho, earthy vibe.
- Black heels: Alright, this was my attempt to be bold. And you know what? I liked it! The black created a strong contrast with the yellow. It’s definitely a more dramatic look, maybe for a night out.
- Hot pink heels: I saw it and try to be a little crazy. It’s bold for * color blocked and it looked so fun.
So, after all that, I’ve got a bunch of options now! It really depends on the vibe I’m going for. Nude and white are my go-to for keeping it simple and chic. Silver and gold add a little something special. Brown is perfect for a casual, earthy look. And black or hot pink? Those are for when I’m feeling bold and want to make a statement!
