So last Thursday I totally blanked on where my econ class was supposed to be. Rushed to the admin office sweating buckets, and this lady just points at a monitor saying “Check your EAE like everyone else dude.” Had zero clue what she meant. Apparently there’s this campus virtual thing called EAE everyone uses for schedules, grades, whatever. Felt like the only idiot on campus who didn’t know.

The login maze

Grabbed my student ID and marched straight to the library computers. Pulled up the campus homepage, spotted the tiny “EAE Portal” button tucked away at the bottom corner. Clicked it – bam! Hit with this ugly blue login screen asking for “User ID” and “Campus Passphrase.” Tried my student ID number first. Nope. Tried my email password. Failed again. Almost smashed the keyboard right there.

Remembered overhearing someone mention IT sets default passwords. Ran across campus to tech support. Waited 45 minutes just to get a sticky note scribbled with: “Username: * Temp Pass: Campus2024!” Felt so stupid.

First steps inside

Got back to a computer, typed in * (my lame name) and Campus2024!. Screen flashed white then loaded this dashboard looking like Windows 98. Saw five big ugly boxes:

  • My Courses
  • Schedule
  • Grades
  • Campus Mail
  • Library Stuff

Clicked “Schedule” shaking like I was defusing a bomb. There it was – Building C, Room 305, Mondays 10 AM. Highlighted in puke-green color. Wanted to hug the monitor.

The password change trap

Suddenly got a scary red popup: “YOU MUST CHANGE PASSWORD NOW OR ACCOUNT GOES BOOM.” Clicked the tiny “Profile” link buried under a dropdown menu. Password page asked for:

  • Old crap password
  • New password (with 50 thousand rules)
  • Type it again

Typed Campus2024! for old pass. Made new password ChocolateCake42$ (don’t judge me). Hit submit… ERROR. Forgot the ! in the original pass. Did the whole dance again sweating bullets. Finally got a green “Success” message after three tries.

The mobile disaster

Tried installing the EAE app later. Searched “Campus EAE” – found twenty apps with similar names. Downloaded the wrong one twice. Third one had our ugly campus logo. Logged in… kept crashing every time I tapped “Grades.” Restarted phone. Still garbage. Asked a junior – turns out you gotta enable “Legacy View” in settings. Flipped that switch and it worked like a broken shopping cart. Better than nothing I guess.

So yeah, that’s my week-long battle conquering EAE. Still looks like it was designed by a 2005 robot, but at least I’m not lost anymore. Just gotta remember ChocolateCake42$ every dang time.
