Well, I’ve been playing Fantasy Premier League (FPL) for a while now, and dealing with price changes can be a real headache. But through my own experiences, I’ve come up with 5 tips that I think can help you out.
Tip 1: Keep an Eye on the News
I started by constantly checking the sports news. Every morning, I’d grab my phone and scroll through the latest updates on players. Like, if a star player was rumored to be injured, I knew their price might drop. I remember one time when Harry Kane got a minor knock in training. The news spread like wildfire, and I quickly noticed his price starting to dip. So, I kept a close watch on the news channels, Twitter, and even some FPL – related forums to stay in the loop.
Tip 2: Analyze Player Performance
I made it a habit to watch as many Premier League games as I could. I’d sit on my couch, munching on chips, and really study how players were performing. Goals, assists, clean sheets – these were all things that could affect a player’s price. For example, a young midfielder who suddenly started scoring a lot of goals would see his price go up. I’d also look at the stats after each game. If a defender was consistently making a lot of tackles and interceptions, I knew they were likely to become more valuable. I used the official FPL app to check these stats, it was super handy.
Tip 3: Plan Your Transfers Wisely

When it came to making transfers, I didn’t just jump in blindly. I’d sit down and think about my team’s needs. If I had a player whose price was likely to drop, I’d plan to transfer them out. But I also had to consider who I was bringing in. I once transferred out a defender who was having a rough patch, and brought in a rising star. It took some time to decide, but in the end, it paid off. The new defender’s price went up, and I got more value for my team.
Tip 4: Follow the Crowd (Sometimes)
I noticed that there were certain players that everyone seemed to be talking about. If a large number of FPL managers were transferring in a particular player, there was usually a good reason. I remember when Salah was on a hot streak, almost everyone was trying to get him in their team. So, I decided to follow the crowd and transfer him in. And guess what? His price kept going up, and he was scoring goals left and right. Of course, you can’t always follow the crowd, but it can be a good indicator sometimes.
Tip 5: Be Patient
This was probably the hardest tip to follow. There were times when I wanted to make a transfer right away because I thought a player’s price was about to change. But I learned that patience is key. I had a striker on my team whose price was stagnant for a few weeks. I was tempted to transfer him out, but I held on. And then, all of a sudden, he had a great game and his price shot up. So, don’t be too hasty, give it some time.

So, those are the 5 tips I’ve learned from my own FPL experiences. They’ve helped me deal with price changes and build a better team. I hope they can do the same for you!
