Well, let me tell you about my journey exploring the types of Tabla. It all started when I got really curious about these cool drums. I mean, I’d heard about them, but I had no idea there were so many different kinds.

I first went to a local music store. I walked in and asked the guy at the counter, “Hey, do you have Tablas here?” He nodded and led me to a corner where there were a bunch of them. I was like a kid in a candy store, looking at all these drums.
I picked up one of them and started to examine it. I turned it around in my hands, feeling the wood and the skin on the top. I asked the guy, “What kind of Tabla is this?” He said it was a common type, good for beginners. I thought, “Well, that’s a start.”
Then I started to look at the other ones. There were some that looked a bit fancier, with more decorations on them. I asked about those, and the guy told me they were higher – end models, made for professional players. I was like, “Wow, these look really cool, but I’m not there yet.”
I also noticed that some Tablas had different sizes. I asked the guy why, and he said the size affected the sound. The smaller ones made higher – pitched sounds, and the bigger ones made lower – pitched sounds. I thought that was really interesting.
I decided to do some more research on my own. I went home and started looking through some books about Indian music. I found out that there were even more types of Tablas than what the store had. There were some regional variations, like those from different parts of India, each with their own unique features.

I also watched some videos of people playing Tablas on my phone. I saw how different players used different types of Tablas to create all sorts of amazing music. I was really inspired.
After all this, I finally decided to buy the beginner – friendly Tabla. I took it home, sat down, and started to learn how to play it. It was tough at first, but I kept at it. And you know what? I’m still learning, but I’ve had a great time exploring all the different types of Tablas.
So, if you’re interested in Tablas, don’t be afraid to start looking into them. There’s a whole world of different models out there, just waiting for you to discover!
