So, I decided to visit Portugal in May. First, I booked my flight tickets. It was a bit of a hassle to find the best deal, but I managed to get a relatively cheap one after spending hours searching on different websites.
Next, I picked a cozy Airbnb in Lisbon. I looked through tons of listings, checking reviews and photos. Finally, I settled on a place near the city center with a nice view.
When I arrived in Lisbon, the weather was just amazing. The sun was shining, and there was a gentle breeze. I grabbed a taxi from the airport and headed straight to my Airbnb. After dropping off my luggage, I ventured out to explore the city.
I walked around the narrow streets of Alfama, the oldest neighborhood in Lisbon. I stopped at a local café and tried the famous Pastéis de Nata. Oh my god, they were so delicious! I chatted with the locals there, and they gave me some great tips on where to go next.
Over the next few days, I visited many attractions. I climbed up to the São Jorge Castle and admired the panoramic view of the city. I also took a tram ride through the hilly streets, which was a lot of fun.
I hopped on a train and traveled to Sintra. The Pena Palace there was like something out of a fairytale. I wandered around the beautiful gardens and marveled at the colorful architecture.
Back in Lisbon, I checked out the local markets. I browsed through the stalls, bargained a bit, and bought some souvenirs for my friends and family.
As for the food, I indulged in all kinds of Portuguese dishes. Bacalhau, the salted codfish, was a bit of an acquired taste, but I grew to like it. And the grilled sardines were simply mouth – watering.
At the end of my trip, I packed my bags, checked out of my Airbnb, and headed to the airport. Looking back, visiting Portugal in May was an absolute blast. The weather was perfect, not too hot and not too cold. The tourist crowds were manageable, and I got to experience the real Portuguese culture.
