Alright folks, I messed around trying to find something decent for tracking my awful pool league team’s stats yesterday. Figured I’d actually test stuff myself ’cause I wasted last season writing crap down on napkins.

Okay, Where Did I Even Start?
First off, my laptop was dead. Grabbed the tablet instead. Hopped onto the app store thingy on it. Typed in junk like “pool league stats,” “billiards tracker,” “team stats app.” Wow, tons popped up. Looked overwhelming. Just picked the first few that sounded semi-decent.
First one I tapped on: Promised easy setup. Big mistake. Took forever just to make an account. Then trying to add my team? Like five people? Nope, wouldn’t let me save their names properly. Plus, the “tables” it showed looked like a kid’s drawing. Deleted that garbage faster than you can say “scratch.”
Moving On… This Sucks Already
Tried the second app: Looked a bit cleaner. Cool pictures at least. But trying to put in a simple match? Nightmare. Too many steps! Who needs to track the exact minute someone missed a bank shot? I sure don’t. Felt like I needed a manual thicker than my old phone book. Gave up after wrestling with it for like half an hour. Uninstalled.
Seriously started thinking about using a notebook again. Maybe sticky notes? But I stuck with it. Glutton for punishment, I guess.
Third Time’s the Charm? Maybe?
Alright, third app: Name sounded kinda basic, whatever. This one actually seemed alright! Wasn’t super pretty, but I kinda liked that. Less distracting, you know?

- Adding players was quick. Just typed names in. Done.
- Creating my team felt simple. Didn’t argue with me.
- Putting in a match? Finally! Easy screens. Tap the winner, tap the loser, put in the match type (like 8-ball or 9-ball), put in the score. BOOM. Took two seconds.
- Even showed me some basic totals afterwards – wins, losses. Not rocket science, but exactly what I needed.
What About The Others?
I peeked at two more. One seemed crazy expensive for fancy stuff we’d never use, like analyzing shot angles? Come on. The last one looked like it hadn’t been updated since the flip phone days. Clunky, weird layout. Skipped ’em. The third one I stuck with felt like hitting a clean break shot after whiffing the first couple tries.
Real Talk – Why Bother With Any Of This?
Look, my team keeps complaining they don’t know who played good or bad last week. Now? I got the dumb stats right here on my tablet. Last week at league, Rick was bragging about his winning streak. Checked the app – nope, lost five in a row! He shut up fast. Karen kept moaning she “never won.” Showed her she actually won almost half her games. Stopped moaning. Felt like magic. Or maybe just not being lazy.
Why waste time testing junk? ‘Cause writing scores down sucks, and I kept losing the paper. Plus, my wife gets annoyed when I mutter about league standings in the shower. Now I can just grumble silently at the app instead. Team captain’s life, am I right?
