One day, I suddenly wondered, “How many days until April 9, 2025?” I thought it’d be cool to figure this out on my own rather than just using a date – calculator app right away.
First, I got a pen and a piece of paper. I started by marking today’s date, which was [current date]. Then, I began to break down the process month – by – month. I knew I had to count the days in each month between now and April 2025.
I remembered that some months have 30 days, some have 31, and February is a bit tricky. I listed out the months one by one:
- For months with 31 days like January, March, May, July, August, October, and December, I wrote down 31 next to them.
- For months with 30 days like April, June, September, and November, I put 30.
- For February 2025, I knew it’d have 28 days since 2025 isn’t a leap year.
After that, I started to calculate the number of days from the current month to the end of this year. I counted how many days were left in the current month. Then I added up the days of the remaining months in the year. This part was a bit of a headache, but I just kept at it, adding and double – checking my math.
Next, I moved on to 2025. I counted from January 1st to April 9th. I added the days of January (31), February (28), March (31), and then just 9 days for April.
Finally, I combined the number of days from the rest of this year and the days in 2025 up to April 9th. After a few more rounds of adding and subtracting, I got the answer! It was [the calculated number of days].

Doing this the hard way was really fun. It made me think about how we often rely on apps and forget how to do simple math and date – counting on our own. And now, I know exactly how many days are left until April 9, 2025, all thanks to my little DIY date – counting adventure!
