Well, I started this little project of looking into the statistics of Betis against FC Barcelona out of sheer curiosity. First, I decided to gather all the available data. I headed over to some sports data websites and started collecting info on their past matches.

I copied down details like the scores, the number of goals each team scored, the number of shots on target, and even the number of fouls committed in each game. It was like a treasure – hunt for numbers!
Once I had all the data collected, I began to organize it. I made a big spreadsheet, putting each match in a separate row and labeling all the columns with the different stats.
Then came the fun part – analyzing the data. I started by looking at the overall win – loss – draw record. Betis, it turns out, hasn’t had the best luck against Barcelona. Barcelona has won a whole lot more games than Betis.
I dug deeper into the goal – scoring stats. Barcelona usually scores more goals per game. But there were a few matches where Betis really surprised everyone and scored a bunch of goals. I noticed that in those games, Betis had a higher number of shots on target.
I also checked out the foul stats. Barcelona tends to commit fewer fouls on average, but when they do, it’s often in crucial moments of the game.

As I continued my analysis, I realized that there were some trends, but they weren’t super clear – cut. Sometimes Betis would play really well in a home game, but in the next home game, they’d struggle.
After spending hours looking at all these numbers, I came to a conclusion. While there are some patterns in the statistics, football is such an unpredictable game. Just because Barcelona has a better record doesn’t mean they’ll win every time. And Betis, with a bit of luck and a good game plan, can definitely pull off an upset. So, in the end, it’s always exciting to watch these two teams face off!
