Well, let me tell you about my little adventure with figuring out what 1000 / 6 means. It all started when I was sitting there, looking at this math problem like it was some kind of alien code.

What does 1000 6 mean? An easy - to - understand explanation!

I first thought, “Okay, I gotta break this down.” So I grabbed a pen and a piece of paper. I started by trying to think of how many times 6 could go into 10. I knew 6 goes into 10 one time, and there’s a remainder of 4. So I wrote down 1 on the paper, and carried the 4 over to the next digit.

Then I combined the 4 with the next 0, making it 40. I thought, “How many times does 6 go into 40?” I counted in my head: 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36. So 6 goes into 40 six times, and there’s a remainder of 4 again. I wrote down 6 next to the 1, and carried the 4 over to the next 0.

Now I had 40 again. I did the same thing, counting 6s in my head. And yep, 6 goes into 40 six times with a remainder of 4. I kept repeating this process, and I noticed it just kept going on and on with that remainder of 4.

I was getting a bit frustrated at this point. I mean, it seemed like it would never end! But then I remembered something from school. When you get a repeating pattern like this, it means it’s a repeating decimal.

So I finally wrote down the answer as 166.666… with a bar over the 6 to show it repeats. And that’s how I figured out what 1000 / 6 means. It’s not as simple as it looks at first, but with a little bit of work and some good old – fashioned number – crunching, I got there!
