So, I signed up to be a FIFA Club World Cup volunteer. It was a spur – of – the – moment decision, you know? I just thought it’d be cool to be part of such a big event.
First off, there was the application process. I filled out a bunch of forms online. They asked me all sorts of stuff like my availability, what kind of work I was okay with, and if I had any relevant experience. It felt like I was applying for a real job!
After that, I got an email saying I needed to go for an interview. I was nervous as hell! I mean, I’d never done anything like this before. The interview was in a big office building. There were two people sitting across from me, asking me questions. They wanted to know why I wanted to be a volunteer and how I’d handle different situations. I just talked from the heart and hoped for the best.
Luckily, I got the gig! Then came the training. They had these big training sessions in a huge hall. There were like a hundred other volunteers there. We learned about the tournament schedule, the rules of how to handle the crowd, and where all the important places in the stadium were. It was a lot to take in, but I tried my best to soak it all up.
Finally, the day of the first match arrived. I was assigned to work at the entrance. My job was to check people’s tickets and make sure they were going to the right seats. It was crazy busy! There were so many people, and some of them were really drunk and rowdy. But I kept my cool and did my job.
During the match, I got to walk around a bit. I saw all these amazing players up close. It was like a dream come true for a soccer fan like me. And the energy in the stadium was just electric! Everyone was cheering and singing.
After the match, I was exhausted but also super excited. I’d made it through my first day as a volunteer. Over the next few days, I got to work in different areas of the stadium. I helped out at the concession stands, handed out programs, and even assisted with some of the post – match clean – up.
By the end of the tournament, I was sad it was over. I’d made so many new friends among the other volunteers, and I’d had an experience I’d never forget. Being a FIFA Club World Cup volunteer was tough work, but it was totally worth it. I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat!
