Well, I’ve always been a big fan of football, especially matches between RCD Espanyol de Barcelona and Real Madrid. So, I decided to dig into the statistics of their head – to – head games.

First, I started by hitting up some sports news websites. I searched through a bunch of pages, clicking on different links (not the ones I can’t use here, of course) to find relevant data. I was looking for things like how many goals each team scored, how many wins, losses, and draws they had in these match – ups.
I jotted down the basic stats on a piece of paper. Then, I thought, “Hey, I should also look at the home and away records.” So, I went back to the sites and filtered the data to see how RCD Espanyol fared when they played at home against Real Madrid, and vice versa.
Next, I wanted to check out the goal – scoring trends over the years. I spent a good amount of time scrolling through old match reports, trying to figure out if there were any patterns. Like, did Real Madrid score more goals in certain seasons or months?
After that, I compared the stats of different eras. I divided the matches into groups based on decades. It was interesting to see how the performance of both teams changed over time. For example, in the earlier decades, RCD Espanyol seemed to give Real Madrid a tougher fight in some cases.
Once I had all the data in front of me, I started to analyze it. I made some simple graphs on a piece of paper to visualize the information. It helped me see the big picture more clearly.

Finally, I summarized all my findings. I found that Real Madrid generally has a better win – loss record against RCD Espanyol, but RCD Espanyol has had some really good games and managed to score some important goals. And the home – field advantage seems to play a role in these matches too.
It was a fun and time – consuming process, but I learned a lot about the historical battles between these two great football clubs.
