Wanted to show my Barça love without breaking the bank, so I grabbed some leftover plywood scraps from the garage. Measuring came first – sketched the stand shape right onto the wood with a pencil. Made it shoulder-width for scarves.

Cutting the Pieces

Grabbed my jigsaw and sliced out three identical U-shaped pieces. Had to sand the edges rough spots until smooth. Almost sliced my thumb when the saw slipped – won’t skip safety gloves again.

Assembly Time

Laid the base flat and drilled pilot holes where the side pieces would go. Used wood glue and screws to attach them upright. Pro tip: put weights on the joints while drying overnight – mine wobbled like Messi dribbling at first.

Painting Mess

  • Taped off stripes with masking tape
  • Did the iconic blaugrana: blue base coat, then red stripes
  • Red paint bled under the tape (cursed!)
  • Fixed it by hand-painting corrections with tiny brush
  • Finished with clear varnish so beer spills wipe off

Final Touches

Stuck rubber feet underneath so it doesn’t scratch tables. Hung my 2015 Champions League scarf on it as test run. Stand holds weight perfect but leans slightly left – probably from uneven garage floor during glue-up. Doesn’t matter though, looks proper on the shelf beside my match tickets collection.

Total cost? Basically free since I used scrap materials. Took two weekends because drying times, but actual work was maybe five hours. Way better than plastic store-bought junk – this one’s got my sweat in it. Might add LED lights next round!
