Alright, so the other day I was cleaning out my old stuff and found this beaten-up 2014 World Cup sticker album. Got me thinking – man, that German squad was fire! Decided to track down what those legends are up to now. Started with a messy Google search like “Germany 2014 players current” – total chaos, man. Old news articles popping up everywhere.
Grabbed my laptop and just made a simple list in Notepad. Figured I’d sort ‘em by position to keep things organized:
Goalkeepers First
- Manuel Neuer: Still at Bayern Munich believe it or not. Broke his leg snowboarding though!
- Roman Weidenfeller: Retired ages ago, does Dortmund TV stuff now.
- Ron-Robert Zieler: Backup keeper in Germany’s second division.
Defenders
- Philipp Lahm: Quit in 2017. Runs some sustainability company now.
- Mats Hummels: Back at Dortmund after Bayern stint. Looks grumpier.
- Jérôme Boateng: Playing in Austria after messy Bayern exit.
- Benedikt Höwedes: Retired after playing in Russia. No clue otherwise.
Midfield Drama
This took forever to verify. Schweinsteiger retired and does US TV punditry now – found him yelling analysis on YouTube clips. Kroos? Still at Madrid but leaving soon. Götze bounced everywhere before Frankfurt. Khedira retired last year with bad knees. Found out Draxler plays in Qatar now through some sketchy forum.
Forwards Update
- Müller: Still scoring somehow at Bayern. Weird running but works.
- Klose: Coaches Austrian team after doing Bayern youth setup.
- Podolski: Runs a kebab empire and plays in Poland. Legend.
Spent like three hours cross-checking everything cause so many fake “where are they now” lists exist. Worst part? Realized half these guys retired and now I feel ancient. That final squad photo hit different – young faces chasing trophies, now most are bald coaches or doing weird business ventures. Time flies when you’re getting old!
