Where to Hang a Gather Sign in Kitchen? Styling Tips!

Okay, so the other day I decided my kitchen needed a little something extra, you know? It felt kinda bare. I’d seen these cute “gather” signs in some home decor magazines and thought, “Why not?” So, I decided to make my own little “gather” sign for the kitchen.

Getting Started

First, I rummaged through my craft supplies. I found some leftover wood pieces from another project – score! – and some acrylic paints. I figured I’d keep it simple, rustic-ish.

  • Wood pieces: Found ’em!
  • Paint: Had some black and white, perfect.
  • Brushes: Got a few different sizes.
  • Sandpaper: Gotta smooth those edges.

The Process

I started by sanding down the wood. It was pretty rough, so this took a little while. I just wanted to make sure the paint would go on smoothly, and nobody would get splinters. Safety first, even with crafts!

Then, I painted the wood with a base coat of white. I did two coats to make sure it was nice and covered. It looked pretty good, even just plain white!

Next came the tricky part: the lettering. I’m not the best at freehand painting, so I printed out the word “gather” in a font I liked. I used that as a guide, kind of tracing it lightly with a pencil onto the wood.

After that, I carefully painted the letters in black. I used a thin brush for this part to get the lines as clean as possible. It took some concentration, let me tell you! A few deep breaths and a steady hand, and it worked.

Finishing Touches

Once the paint was dry, I lightly sanded over the letters to give it a slightly distressed look. I didn’t want it to look too perfect, you know? A little bit of wear and tear adds character.

Finally, I added a little bit of twine to the top so I could hang it up. And boom! Done. My very own “gather” sign.

It’s not perfect, but I love it! It adds a nice little touch to my kitchen, and it was super fun to make. I felt a little proud hanging it up, and it made me want to start planning my next little project!
