Okay, so I needed to figure out how many cups were in 140ml of water. I’m working on this recipe, you see, and it calls for milliliters, but I usually work with cups.
My Experiment
First, I grabbed my phone and did a quick search. I typed in “140 ml to cups” and hit enter. Immediately, I saw that 140 milliliters is roughly 0.592 cups. That’s a little more than half a cup, got it.

I wanted to be sure, so I dug around for my measuring tools.
- I found my trusty measuring cup. It’s got both cups and milliliters on it, which is super helpful.
- I grabbed a small glass.
Then I started the experiment. I filled the measuring cup with water up to the 140ml line. Then, I carefully poured the water into the small glass.
I looked at the glass to ensure the amount I found earlier (0.592) matches what I poured and there it is. My conversion process worked! Now I know exactly what I am dealing with. 0.592 cups it is. So, a bit more than half a cup in my usual measuring.
Anyway, that’s how I figured out my little measurement problem. It was a simple, but It solved my problem.
