Okay, so I’ve been seeing this trend everywhere – the crop top and skirt wedding dress. And I gotta say, I was intrigued. I mean, it’s such a cool, modern take on the traditional gown. Plus, I’m all about showing a little skin (tastefully, of course!), so I decided to give it a try.
First things first, I scoured the internet for inspiration. I looked at tons of pictures, saved my favorites, and really tried to figure out what kind of style I was going for. Did I want something bohemian? Something sleek and modern? Maybe a little bit of both?

After that it’s time to hit the shops! I started my search at smaller boutiques.I wanted to have something unique and really stand out. It really took a while, and I tried so many different combinations. Some were, um, interesting… let’s just say not everything works as well in real life as it does in pictures!
But I finally found it in one local store. I am not kidding when I try to say that I tried on like, a million tops and skirts. Okay, maybe not a million, but a lot! Some were too poofy, some were too tight, some were just… plain weird. But finally, I found a combo that I absolutely loved.
The Winning Combo
- Top: It was a delicate lace crop top with long sleeves and a bit of a scalloped edge. Super romantic and just the right amount of coverage.
- Skirt: I paired it with a high-waisted, flowy A-line skirt made of a lightweight chiffon. It moved beautifully and had just the right amount of “swish.”
Next, I needed to accessorize! I decided to keep it simple with some delicate gold jewelry and a pair of strappy heels. I didn’t want anything to take away from the dress itself. For my hair, I went with loose waves and a flower crown for a touch of boho chic.
The final step was finding the perfect tailor to customize it. After several fittings, I picked my dress.
On the “big day” (it wasn’t actually a wedding, just a fancy photoshoot!), I felt amazing. The outfit was comfortable, stylish, and totally me. It was definitely a bit of a risk, but I’m so glad I went for it! It’s a look I’ll definitely be rocking again.
