Chic Nostalgia Dior: Find Vintage Pieces & New Looks.

Okay, so I’ve been wanting to try this “chic nostalgia” Dior look for a while now. It’s all about that classic, elegant vibe, but with a modern twist. I’m no makeup artist, but I figured, why not give it a shot? I’m putting it all out there – the good, the bad, and the slightly smudged.

Getting Started

First, I gathered all my makeup. I don’t have a ton of Dior stuff, but I tried to find similar colors and textures from what I already owned. I watched a few tutorials online to get a general idea of the look. It seemed like the key was a flawless base, defined eyes, and a bold lip.

The Process (aka The Messy Part)

I started with my base. I applied primer, then foundation, and concealer to even out my skin tone. I tried to go for a more matte finish, since that seemed to be the Dior style. Then I added some subtle contouring and blush to give my face some shape. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a start.

Next up, the eyes. This was the part I was most nervous about. The tutorials showed a lot of careful blending and precise liner. I used a neutral eyeshadow palette, applying a light shade all over my lid and a slightly darker shade in the crease. I tried to blend it as smoothly as I could, but I definitely have room for improvement. Then, I attempted a winged liner. Let’s just say it took a few tries (and a lot of makeup remover) to get it somewhat even.

  • Primer: This was a must.
  • Foundation: Went for matte, not dewy.
  • Eyeshadow: Neutral tones, lots of blending.
  • Eyeliner: The struggle was real.

Finally, the lips. I chose a classic red lipstick, because that’s what screams “Dior” to me. I lined my lips first to try and get a crisp shape, then filled them in with the lipstick. I think the bold lip really pulled the whole look together, even if the rest of it was a bit… amateur.

The Result

So, did I achieve “chic nostalgia”? Maybe not perfectly. But I definitely felt a bit more glamorous than usual. It was fun to experiment with a different style, and it made me appreciate the artistry of makeup even more. I definitely learned a few things along the way, and I’ll probably keep practicing to get better at that winged liner. It’s all about the journey, right?

Would I wear this look out? Maybe, after a bit more practice. It’s definitely a statement look, and I’d need to feel pretty confident to rock it. But hey, that’s the fun of makeup – you can try new things and express yourself in different ways. So, there you have it – my attempt at a Dior-inspired look. It wasn’t perfect, but it was definitely an experience!
