Okay, so I’ve been seeing these perfume advent calendars everywhere, and I finally caved. I mean, who doesn’t want tiny bottles of fancy smells to try out every day? I decided to go all in and make my OWN. Because, you know, DIY is always better, right? Wink
The Hunt Begins
First, I needed a good advent calendar base. I didn’t want some flimsy cardboard thing. After scouring craft stores like a woman possessed, I found this awesome wooden one with little drawers. Perfect! It even had a cute little Christmas tree design on it. My inner child was screaming with joy. I quickly grabbed that into my shopping cart.

Smelly Treasure
Next up, the most crucial part: the perfumes! This was the fun part, but it’s also tiring. Instead of buying a bunch of full-sized bottles (my wallet cried at the thought), I hit up the department stores for samples. And I got a bunch of those little sample vials from online stores too. You know, the ones they give you when you buy something bigger? Those are gold, my friends, GOLD.
Filling the Drawers
- I spent an entire afternoon carefully decanting some of my own perfumes into tiny spray bottles I bought online. My apartment smelled AMAZING.
- Then, I organized all the samples and my mini-decants by scent type. Don’t want to mix a floral with a spicy, you know? Chaos!
- The tedious part? Labeling everything! Tiny labels, tiny bottles… my eyes were definitely straining. But I managed to get everything neatly labeled with the perfume name and a cute little number for each day.
- Finally, I filled each drawer with a different perfume, trying to make sure there was a good variety each week. I even added a few tiny chocolates, because why not?
The Grand Finale
And… it’s done! My very own, totally personalized perfume advent calendar. It looks pretty darn impressive, if I do say so myself. I’m already itching to start opening it, even though it’s not December yet. This whole project was way more involved than I initially thought, but totally worth it. Now, bring on the holiday season, and all the glorious smells! And you know what? I might actually make my own every year now. Or not. Let’s see!
