Okay, so I had this recipe that called for 170 ml of milk. But my measuring tools are all in cups. So, I was like, “Shoot, how many cups is that?” I could have just eyeballed it, but I wanted to be precise, you know?
The Conversion Mission
First, I grabbed my phone and fired up Google. I typed in something like “170 ml to cups” .

The search result gave me a conversion factor, this long number: 0.0042267528198649. I thought. “Okay, that seems to be the Key Number” I have to use that somehow.
Doing the Math
- I remembered from, somewhere, that you gotta multiply the milliliters by this factor to get cups.
- So, I took out my calculator app (because I did not want to get wrong) .
- I carefully punched in 170, then hit the multiply button, and then typed in that crazy long conversion factor.
The calculator showed me something like 0.7185. So, 170 ml is about 0.72 cups. It’s a little less than three-quarters of a cup.
The Result
And there you go! That’s how I figured it out. It was a very simple and easy convertion.I just measured out a bit less than 3/4 of a cup, and my recipe turned out great!
