Okay, so I’ve been trying to get better at baking, and a lot of recipes call for yogurt in grams. But, like, my brain thinks in cups. So, I needed to figure out how to convert 200 grams of yogurt to cups. It’s more of a pain than you’d think!
My Little Experiment
First, I grabbed my kitchen scale and a measuring cup. I zeroed out the scale with the measuring cup on it – gotta make sure I’m just measuring the yogurt, you know?

Then, I spooned in the yogurt until the scale hit 200 grams. It was kind of messy, not gonna lie. Yogurt is slippery!
After I got the 200 grams in there, I took a good look at where it landed in the measuring cup. It wasn’t perfect, of course.
- It looked like it was almost to the 1 cup line, maybe a tiny bit less.
- I’d say it was roughly 7/8 of a cup. Or even closer, but I eyeball.
So, there you have it. 200 grams of yogurt is about 7/8 of a cup. Close enough for baking, I think! I’ll probably just use a scant (slightly less than full) cup next time and call it good. It will be a little less yogurt but it may help me to use less things.
It’s not a super precise science, at least not in my kitchen. Hope this helps someone else out there!
