So, I’ve been trying to get better at actually measuring my food portions. You know, for like, health and stuff. And my go-to breakfast lately has been yogurt with granola and fruit. The recipe I use calls for 150 grams of yogurt, but honestly, who actually knows what that looks like? I don’t have a fancy kitchen scale, just my regular measuring cups.
So I had to figure this out. First, I grabbed my phone and did a quick search.
I found some info, it was pretty easy to search what I wanted. It said 150 grams of yogurt is roughly equal to 0.63 of a US cup. I find 0.63 is a bit hard to eyeball.
So I wanted to get a practical feel for it.
My Experiment
- I took a clean, dry measuring cup.
- I scooped some yogurt into the cup.
- I kept scooping until I get a bit over half-full.
- Then I realized that the info I read online says something more: the 150g equals half cup plus 2 table spoon.
- That is it! I added more yogurt till I get the 2 table spoon volume.
And there you have it! It was not very scientific, but I got a pretty good visual of how much 150 grams of yogurt is. Now I can make my breakfast without all the fuss. Maybe I’ll get a scale eventually, but for now, this method works just fine!
